Genevieve Adkins Yates, age 80, of Erwin, went to her Heavenly home on Friday, September 27, 2019 after a courageous battle with cancer.

Gen was born on December 28, 1938 to the late Bernie and Lydia Adkins of Green Mountain, North Carolina. She was a tremendous prayer warrior, praying daily for her family. In addition to her parents, Gen is preceded in death by two brothers: Bernie Adkins, Jr. and Gerald Adkins; Sisters-in-law: Lorene Adkins, Hazel Adkins and Janice Adkins.

Gen leaves behind to cherish her memory:
Husband and love of her life: Kenneth Yates, who lovingly cared for her, especially during her illness;
Step-sons: David Yates, of Illinois,
Tommy Yates, of Illinois;
Sisters: Joanna Wilson, of Erwin
Gwanda Runion, of Erwin,
Bernice Miller and husband, Farrell, of Burnsville, NC;

Several nieces and nephews;
Very dear friend: Geraldine Hardin.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at Christian Care Center of Unicoi, Dr. Charles Miller and Avalon Hospice for their excellent care.
