According to family members, Chessie Jarvis Rhodes was born April 3, 1899, not March. Midwife turned in wrong month. Date changed to match TS inscription.

Chessie Ola Rhodes, 91, of 310 Frances Street, South Parkersburg, died Saturday evening at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Oka, Calhoun County, a daughter of the late French and Sarah Cottrell Jarvis. She was a Protestant by faith.

She is survived by two daughters, Sarah Yeager of Davisville, and Waneta Gross of Corning, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother, Elmer Jarvis of Wilsie, W.Va.; five sisters, Bessie Morris of Stumptown, Locie Carr of Rosedale, Ruby Carr of Frametown, Erma Nichols of Elon College N.C., and Julie Hedges of Auburn.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Philip Rhodes, in 1983; one daughter, Dorla Jean Rhodes, in 1989; three brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Lamb officiating. Burial will be in the Cottrell Cemetery, Calhoun County.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 1-9 p.m. Tuesday.

In lieu of flowers, and other memoriams, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Cottrell Cemetery Fund, c/o Leona Jones, Route 1, Box 496, Cottageville, W.Va., 25239.
