MARION - Mrs. Elwood Hucks Summerford McRae, 89, died Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Elmcroft Assisted Living of Florence after an illness.
Mrs. McRae was born January 13, 1930 in Marion County, a daughter of the late James Floyd Hucks and the late Sallie Missouri Hucks Hucks. She had retired as a cafeteria worker from the Marion County School District. She was also the beloved Avon Lady. Mrs. McRae was a member of Nebo Baptist Church.
Surviving Mrs. McRae are two daughters, Joyce (Wayne) Poston of Pamplico and Jenny Tisdale of Pamplico; four brothers, Phillip (Sylvia) Hucks, James (Betty) Hucks and Jerry Hucks, all of Britton’s Neck and Jimmy Hucks of Aynor; a sister, Edna (Donal) Douglas of Brittons Neck; 3 grandsons; and 4 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. McRae was predeceased by her first husband, Woodrow Summerford, her second husband, Frank Neal McRae, two brothers, Floyd Hucks, Jr. and Norman “Pap” Hucks, and two sisters, Sallie Grace Hucks and Norma “Patsy” Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary of Nebo Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Pace officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, directed by Cox-Collins Funeral Home.
