Actor. He was best known to film viewers as both mobster 'Carmine Rosato' in the 1974 film "The Godfather: Part II" and mob boss 'Albert Volpe' in its 1990 sequel, "The Godfather: Part III." He took up acting at a young age, at the local Boys Club in Manhattan, New York. He later served in the United States Army for three years during the Korean War. After his military service, he served some time in a federal penitentiary for trying to sell cocaine to an undercover agent. In 1962, he made his acting debut on the television series "Naked City." He went on to appear in numerous television series throughout his career, such as "Phyllis," "Kojak," "Quincy M.E.," "Taxi," "Fame," "Valerie," "Jake and the Fatman," "NYPD Blue," and "Curb Your Enthusiasm." His first "big screen" role came in the 1971 film "The Anderson Tapes." Besides the two Godfather films, he also appeared in such films as "Car Wash" (1976), "The Cheap Detective" (1978), "The In-Laws" (1979), "Prince of the City" (1981), "Brewster's Millions" (1985), "The Money Pit" (1986), "Bugsy" (1991), and "Ruby" (1992). In 1982, he became a member of the acting part of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences, but twenty years later, was expelled from the organization for sharing screeners (advanced copies of films). He passed away from complications from a fall.
