Hugh Brown died in Portsmouth Hospital from cancer. He was the son of Joseph and Mary Brown, who came to America from Scotland in about 1859 with their five children.
Hugh and Addie Godfrey married in 1878 and lived in Hampton Falls for a while before moving to Pittsfield, where they lived until 1892. They moved to Hampton and bought the John Dearborn farm, where Hugh and Addie were living when he died. They had no children and Hugh was the last living member of his family.
