James Brown, Postal Official

James Allen Brown, retired post office superintendent of the former 22nd Street Post Office, died Wednesday (Nov. 1, 1967). He was 75 years old.

A resident of 1075 Ninth Ave. N, he was born in Peorial, Ill., and moved here 56 years ago.

Mr. Brown joined the post office department in St. Petersburg in 1915. In 1934, he was appointed acting postmaster of Safety Harbor. He was a superintendent for the St. Petersburg office for 25 years and retired in 1949.

A member of the First Congregational Church and the Retired Postal Supervisors Association, he was a life member of the St. Petersburg Lodge No. 139 F&AM.

Surviving are his wife, Irma Edwards Brown, whose father, George Edwards, was mayor in 1903 when St. Petersburg became an incorporated city; two daughters, Mrs. Frank A. Millet and Mrs. Walter R. Wall, both of St. Petersburg, and two grandchildren.

The Palms Memorial is in charge.
