JANUARY 16, 1930 – APRIL 6, 2019

Rev. Harold Ingram Elrod, age 89 of Rome, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Saturday, April 6th, 2019 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga. He was born in Cave Spring, Georgia on January 16th, 1930. He was a graduate of McHenry High School in Rome, Georgia where he played football and met his future wife, Lavonne Carver. They were wed on May 6th, 1948, and were married for 62 years until Lavonne’s passing in 2015.

He attended Truett-McConnell College, Shorter College and was ordained by the First Baptist Church in Lindale. In the following years he was associated with many churches in Georgia, including Friendship Baptist in Cartersville, Georgia, Trinity Baptist in Cartersville, Georgia, Tara Gospel in Morrow, Georgia, and later associated with the Youth Ministry at the Chapel at Swan Lake.

He is survived by his daughter Angela Elrod Matheson(Jim) of Woodstock, Georgia, his son, Michael Elrod (Shelia) of Stockbridge, Georgia, four Grandchildren, Kristen Matheson Little(Jason); Christopher James Matheson(Jessie); Timothy Elrod(Malorie) and Zachary Elrod. He is also survived by 9 Great-Grandchildren, Ava Little, Finley Little, Ruby Little, Wylder Matheson, and Judah Little; Jack Elrod, Cole Elrod, Lorelei Elrod and Mason Elrod.

Visitation with the family is scheduled for Friday, April 12th, 2019, at Daniel’s Funeral Home, 901 East Second Avenue, Rome, Georgia 3016, from 11 a.m. to 12 Noon. A Funeral Service will follow in the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home, beginning at 12 Noon. Interment will be immediately after the service at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens, 2549 Shorter Avenue, Rome, Georgia 30165.
