Mr. Thermon Locklear, 64, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 8, 2019 at McLeod Regional Medical Center in Florence, surrounded by his loving family.
Born on January 28, 1955, in the McColl Township of Marlboro County, SC, he was a son of the late David and Georgia Mae Locklear. He was a life-long farmer and recently had accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Mr. Thermon enjoyed working in his yard and gardening, fishing, watching NASCAR and dirt track racing. He also loved tinkering on his 2002 Ford Ranger. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Crystal A. Locklear of their home in Clio; daughters, Michelle Locklear of Clio and Peggy Lee Locklear of Dillon, Casey (Roy) Oxendine and Contina Godwin all of Rowland, NC; sons, Thermon Jerome Lockear (April) of Clio, Kenny Ray Locklear of Raleigh, NC and Charles Bryant Locklear (Megan) of Rowland, NC; brothers, Charles (Mary) Locklear of Bennettsville and Carl (Donna) Locklear of Dillon; sisters, Maggie (Bobby) Wilkes, Jenny (Ray) Coleman and Frances (Mickey) Butler all of Dillon; 26 grandchildren & 22 great-grandchildren; special friends, Mark Graham of McColl, Lonnie Brown of Clio and Nicole Godwin of Rowland, NC; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friends.
Funeral services will be held 3:00 P.M. on Monday, March 11, 2019 at Dillon Second Baptist Church officiated by the Rev.’s Richie Hicks and Roscoe Oxendine. Burial, directed by Cooper Funeral Home will follow in Melody Land Faith Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7-9 P.M. on Sunday, March 10, 2019 at Cooper Funeral Home in Dillon.
Pallbearers will be Mark Graham, Bobby Lee Wilkes, Carl Locklear, Jr., Michael Butler, David Locklear, Jr., Bobby Scott, Joey Lee Wilkes, Jr. and Bryan Owens. Flower Girls will be, Savannah Patterson, Katlyn Norton, Niki Locklear, Jill Coleman and Niece Scott.
Mr. Locklear was preceded in death by his parents listed above; a daughter, Elizabeth Ray; a brother, David Junior Locklear; grandson, Harley Ray; and a great-granddaughter, Leonee Oxendine.
