Died in service in the Revolutionary War. Capt. 8 Co., 8th Reg't. Capt of Lyme Co. at Lexington Alarm 1775. Mortally wounded and taken prisioner at Battle of Long Island 27 Aug. 1776. Died 2 days later. Son of Nathan and Deborah (Lord) Jewett who are buried in Marvin yard.

As per Find A Grave contributor Jim Childers - This is the actually burial location for Joseph Jewett. It has be verified through the Jewett Family Books. There is a memorial to him at the Prison Ship Martyrs' Monument, Brooklyn, Kings County, New York memorial # 71209339.
