Tania Cergnul (Singer)

Piscataway - Tania Cergnul (Singer) died on Thursday, September 20, 2018 following a long illness. She was 55 years old. Born in Astoria, New York to Joseph & Daria Cergnul , Tania grew up in New Brunswick, NJ. She moved to Fresno, California where she met her husband Barry Singer. They settled in their 130 year old farmhouse in Port Murray, NJ where they together created their own production companies, Singer Entertainment, and later, Pink Lace Productions. They produced many shows, including national and international tours of Hair, Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, The Wiz, Raisin, Johnny Cash, Reba McIntyre, Barbara Mandrel, Alabama, Willie Nelson, George Strait and many others, in addition to 2 HBO specials featuring George Carlin. Tania later started a cleaning company called Interior Excellence. She also worked for a short while as an administrative assistant at St Mary's. Although she never had children of her own, Tania loved her horses, Rocky and Echo, Rainy, her Persian cat, 27 other outdoor cats … but she most treasured her borzoi, Tasha.

Tania was an avid gardener with a very green thumb. Everything grew for her, and in fact, the plant Fr. Bob had given her 11 years ago is still thriving. She was a voracious reader and had a love of all things music, especially Chopin. Tania was a terrific artist who could draw anything she saw, and loved to show anyone who was willing to try, that they could draw, too. During these last few years when she was in and out of hospitals and rehabs, it was her ability to draw that kept her grounded. Tania had a very dynamic personality and loved to laugh . She was always ready for a joke, especially from her nephew, Gianni. She loved Saint Padre Pio and always credited him for her many "come backs" from the edge. Tania was a congregant of St Mary of Mt Virgin Church.

Predeceased by her father, Joseph Cergnul, she is survived by her loving mother, Daria (Zupcich) Cergnul, her sister and brother-in-law, Sonia and Marco Scotti, and her nephew, GianMarco Scotti; life-long partner, Barry Singer; stepchildren, Kimberly Reynolds and Todd Singer, and grandchildren: Tori, Jade and Jacob.

Relatives and friends may visit at the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Avenue, new Brunswick, NJ on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 8:30—10:00 am. Funeral Mass will be held at St Mary of Mount Virgin Church (Parish of the Visitation), located at the corner of Sandford Street and Remsen Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ at 10:30 am.
