Sheila Krekeler
Phoenix - Sheila Krekeler passed peacefully on September 25, 2018, at the age of 84.
She graduated from St. Mary of the Woods in 1955 with a math degree. She worked as a programmer in the early days of large mainframe computers. After rearing five children, she went back to college to learn advanced computer languages. She then re-entered the workforce as a programmer.
Sheila delighted in the outdoors, hiking with family and friends in State and National Parks around the country. She was especially fond of the Grand Canyon, rafting it once and hiking it numerous times.
Family was especially important to Sheila. She spent hours in creative play and activities with her 11 grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, George, and children Michael, David, Susan, Mary and Andy, and 11 grandchildren.
Sheila's Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Monday, October 1, at 1:00 p.m., at The Beatitudes Life Center, 1610 W. Glendale Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85021.
