She met Dennis Holter Hansen while attending South High School. Their correspondence, during World War II, resulted in their marriage in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on Aug. 14, 1947. They were married just shy of 70 years.
Her service in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints included Relief Society, meetinghouse library, Primary and family history assignments. She also served as a temple ordinance worker.
Colleen's primary "career" was within the walls of her homes in South Salt Lake, Millcreek and Bountiful. There she served as artist-in-residence, CGO (chief genealogical officer), head chef and loving caregiver. Her crowning achievement was nurturing three children, eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and sister June (Newsome) Richards.
