She was preceeded in death by her husband, Charles Ralph Hawkins, who passed away in 1966; a son, Lewis M. Hawkins; 10 brothers, Earnest, Earl, Claude, Oliver, Curt, Dewey, Kirby, Hydrick, Sampson and Sherman Hunter and two sisters, Ella Littleton and Ola Smith.
She is survived by a son, Carleton R. Hawkins and his wife, Thelma, of Arden; a brother, Richard Hunter of Brevard; a daughter-in-law, Velma Hawkins; one niece whom she raised, Delia H. Neely; three grandchildren, Charles N. Hawkins, Suzan H. Sluder and Charlie R. Hawkins; five step great-grandchilden, Melissa Conceppion; Sean Nelson, Eric Nelson, Robin Nelson and Lindsey Cunningham; and three step great-great-grandchildren Erin Cunningham, Dillion Evitt and Savannah Nelson. Several nieces, nephews and friends also survive her.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Cashiers United Methodist Church with the Rev. David Beam of Cashiers United Methodist Church officiating. The family will receive friends from noon until service time at the church. Burial will be in Pisgah Gardens in Brevard
