Served with Easy Company, 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He was portrayed by Matthew Leitch in the HBO miniseries "Band of Brothers."

Talbert had quickly risen through the ranks, becoming Company 1st Sergeant, but he would later turn that rank in, when he thought he could do better serving alongside the men he had fought with during the war, self-demoting himself to Staff Sergeant, and Platoon Leader.

According to the miniseries "Band of Brothers," the members of Easy Company all lost touch with Talbert after the war, until he showed up at a reunion in 1981, shortly before his death.

Cause of Death: Complications of a heart condition

Talbert's famous commander, Major Dick Winters, praised Floyd to the skies in his 2006 war memoir "Beyond Band of Brothers" acknowledging him as "the senior noncommissioned officer in Easy Company and the one paratrooper whom I considered the finest soldier in the company."
