Actor. Often cast as sadistic villains, he will be remembered for playing the wild haired, evil 'Romero' in the John Carpenter futuristic picture "Escape From New York" (1981). He relocated with his family to Los Angeles during his early youth. Initially a postal worker, he became interested in acting while attending Los Angeles Pierce Junior College which led to his television debut in the series "Lucas Tanner" (1975). A year later, he made his motion picture debut in the film "The First Nudie Musical" and that same year, he played the role of 'White Warlord' in the John Carpenter film "Assault on Precinct 13." Among his other film credits include "The Big Fix" (1978), "Avenging Angel" (1985) and "Broadcast News" (1987). His TV appearances include "Hill Street Blues," "T.J. Hooker" and "Sledgehammer!," as well as many others. He as married to actress Christina Hart and during their union, they produced daughters Kaitlin and Portia who also became actresses. He died from esophageal cancer.
