Robert B. McIntyre VIRGINIA BEACH
Robert Benson "Bob" McIntyre, 83, passed away April 12, 2007, in Bayside Health Care.

A native of Huron, S.D., he was the son of the late Garland and Lolitta Benson. He retired from the United States Navy as a master chief quartermaster. He was a veteran of World War II and a survivor of the sinking of the USS Drexler (DD-741).

He is survived by his wife, Catherine R. McIntyre; three sons, Michael B. McIntyre and his wife Nancy of Chesapeake, Gary B. McIntyre and his companion Amanda Janes of Norfolk and Robert A. McIntyre and his wife Karen of Suffolk; a sister, Mora Jo Sanders of Comstock, Neb.; and five grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas, Lauren, Brian and Elizabeth.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held Wednesday, July 18, 2007, at 11 a.m. at Arlington National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Bayside Chapel, Tuesday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the USS Drexler Survivors Reunion Association.
