Son of Karl Julius Schloesser and Florentine Bertha "Retta" Linbury. He was the youngest of four children that emigrated from Hamburg to New York with their parents. Departure date was May 2, 1868.

Husband to Ida May Pomeroy, daughter of Daniel Pomeroy and Clarissa Ann Teall. Julius and Ida May were married 21 July 21, 1892 in Dallas County, IA. Their children are Eva Bell (b.1893), Irvin A. (b.1895), James Francis (b. 1899) and Ray D. (b.1901)

His wife Ida May later married Charles M Imes. Apparently Julius' children dropped the surname Schloesser in favor of using Imes surname. Whether they were legally adopted by the step-father is not known.

However, there is documented discord between Julius and his wife in a newspaper article/report.

The Des Moines Register - 1 Aug 1896
transcript below
Eloping Couple Caught - Perry, July 31--- a few weeks ago a fellow named J. W. Johnson, claiming to come from Nebraska, was given work as a farm hand by Julius Schlosser, a prosperous farmer living near Dallas Center, in this county. He soon began making love to Mrs. Schlosser, and she became infatuated with him. Two weeks ago they disappeared, taking the woman's 3-year-old child with them. The husband has since made every effort to find their whereabouts and yesterday they were arrested near Ledyard, in Kossuth county, where they had hired out as a man and wife to work on a farm. They were brought back and Johnson is in jail, charged with adultery. The woman will not be prosecuted.
