Professional Football Player. For nine seasons (1957 to 1965), he played at the fullback position in the National Football League with the Philadelphia Eagles and Pittsburgh Steelers. Born Clarence Earl Peaks, he was raised in Michigan, where he attended Central High School in Flint. He played collegiate football at Michigan State University, and was a member of the Spartans' squad which captured the Rose Bowl title in 1956. During that contest, Peaks was involved in a play that consisted of a lateral from Earl Morrall to him, resulting in Peaks throwing a 67-yard pass completion touchdown to John Lewis. Michigan State defeated UCLA 17-14. Selected by the Eagles during the 1st round of the 1957 NFL Draft (seventh overall after Jim Brown), he appeared in 105 career regular season games, amassing 3,660 rushing yards with 21 touchdowns, and 1,793 reception yards with 3 touchdowns. Peaks appeared in 7 games with the Eagles during the 1960 season, breaking his leg midway in the year, as Philadelphia was en route to clinching the NFL Championship Title. Following his playing career, Peaks served as an analyst during Eagles' radio broadcasts from 1969 to 1970, and later worked on collegiate football games.
