Wayne Galusha formerly of Central City has died. He was laid to rest on December 11, 2017, in Sacramento Valley National Cemetery in Dixon, Calif.


He was born on September 1, 1925, to Truman and Cecila Galusha. He received most of his formal education in Central City Public Schools.


Wayne dropped out of high school and joined the Navy in 1945. He served in three wars: World War ll, Korea, and Vietnam.


On September 17, 1949, he married Betty Marie Svoboda of St. Paul. Five children were born into that union.


The family lived in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, San Diego, Long Beach, and Pleasanton California, Midway Island, Bremerton, Washington, and finally settled in Dixon California.


Wayne enjoyed fishing, horseshoes, working on cars, playing cards, and gardening.


He is survived by his wife Betty, Dixon California; children Linda, Karen, Peggy, and William; eight grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; one sister, Phyllis Bracher of Texas; and a brother, Donald Galusha of Aurora.


He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Dale.

Gravesite Details

Older images of this marker seem to have had a mistake of his US Naval job rating and rank. Once "END2" - "Engineman (Diesel); Petty Officer 2nd Class", the corrected marker has the inscription "EN1" - Engineman; Petty Officer 1st Class.
