Olympic Games Gold Medalist Athlete. He is the only Olympic Games gold medalist from Luxembourg. A track and field runner, he won the Gold Medal in the 1500 meter at 1952 Summer Games in Helsinki, Finland. He went on to a distinguished career in sports administration, serving as President of the Luxembourg Olympic Committee from 1973 to 1977. He also was successful professionally as a chemist, and in politics where at different times he served as Minister of Education, Transport and the Environment in the Luxembourg Government.
