He was a lobster fisherman and a boat builder for many years. He is survived by his wife, Marion (Thibeau) Raney; daughters, Betty (Donnie) Gillan, Point Michaud; Lillian, at home; granddaughters, Dawn Gillan, Ottawa, Ont.; and Alison (Les) Cameron, Antigonish; grandson, Michael Cook; sisters, Mary MacKay, Agnes Matheson, Grand River; Martha Gracie, Point Michaud; Betty Dube, Ontario; brothers, John, Joseph, Point Michaud; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine; brother, Richard, and adopted daughter, Mary (White) Cook. He will be missed by his roommate, Ron Dupe.
Resting at the Holy Guardian Angels Funeral Parlor, L'Ardoise today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be offered Friday at 2 p.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church, L'Ardoise with Rev. Barrett presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Richmond Villa or Strait Richmond Hospital.
