RANEY, Michael Emmett "Mickey" - 80, Point Michaud, died Tuesday, November 1, 2005, in Richmond Villa. Born in Point Michaud, he was the son of the late Michael Raney and Mary Agnes (Gracie) Raney.
He was a lobster fisherman and a boat builder for many years. He is survived by his wife, Marion (Thibeau) Raney; daughters, Betty (Donnie) Gillan, Point Michaud; Lillian, at home; granddaughters, Dawn Gillan, Ottawa, Ont.; and Alison (Les) Cameron, Antigonish; grandson, Michael Cook; sisters, Mary MacKay, Agnes Matheson, Grand River; Martha Gracie, Point Michaud; Betty Dube, Ontario; brothers, John, Joseph, Point Michaud; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his sister, Catherine; brother, Richard, and adopted daughter, Mary (White) Cook. He will be missed by his roommate, Ron Dupe.
Resting at the Holy Guardian Angels Funeral Parlor, L'Ardoise today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. and Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be offered Friday at 2 p.m. in Holy Guardian Angels Church, L'Ardoise with Rev. Barrett presiding. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Richmond Villa or Strait Richmond Hospital. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Green's Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Please note, those attending the visitation and funeral please refrain from wearing scented products, due to an allergy of a family member.
