Irene Chambers Shutt

SALISBURY - Irene Chambers Shutt, age 95, of Salisbury, passed away Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Autumn Care of Salisbury.

Born May 23, 1914, in Buncombe County, she was the daughter of the late Murphy Leona Snelson and Arthur Chambers.

Mrs. Shutt retired from Main Drug and was a member of Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her brothers, Bill, Paul and Walter Chambers; and sister, Ruth Snotherly.

Survivors include her daughter, Marie Shutt Miller (Roger) of Salisbury; brother, Ralph Chambers (Norma) of Fla.; sister, Blanche Cutshaw of Salisbury; granddaughter, Brandy Foster (Scott); step-granddaughter, Tasha Russ; great-granddaughters, Raegan and Karrigan Foster; step-great-granddaughters, Chelsi and Cassidy Russ; and step-great-grandson, Austin Russ.

Visitation: Sunday, Feb. 28 from 7-8:30 p.m. at Lyerly Funeral Home. At other times the family will be at the daughter's residence.

Service and Burial: 2 p.m. Monday, March 1 at Dunn's Mountain Baptist Church conducted by Rev. David Wooten. Burial will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.

Memorials: Dunn's Mt. Baptist Church, 525 Dunns Mtn. Church Rd., Salisbury, NC 28146; or Lakeview Baptist Church, 338 Lakeview Church Rd., Linwood, NC 27299.
