JEAN HULSEMAN KLOOS, June 28, 1964 -August 8, 2016. Age 52, of Cleveland Heights, died in the early hours of Monday, August 8, after a tragic encounter with cancer. She was surrounded by her family in both love and embrace. Beloved wife and best friend of nearly 24 years to Bob, whom she loved with all the strength in her heart. Devoted mother to David and Sarah among the many others she loved like her own. Loved daughter of Robert Leo and Sheila (deceased) Hulseman. Admired sister of Robert (Betty), Richard (Kelly), Paul (Patrice), Margaret Kovach (Joseph), Joseph (Frances), Thomas (Esteban Diaz), Lawrence (Amanda), Patricia Abrams (Brian Abrams) and William. Cherished sister in love to William Kloos (Becky); Ann Kloos; John Kloos (Kathy Shannon); Suzanne Fichner; Kathleen Kloos (Gary Danner); Judy Kloos (Dave Hatch); Tracy Harris (David); Karie Dozer (Rich). Dear aunt to Liam Hulseman; Zachary Lucas; Colin, Patrick, Conor, Michael, Sean, Molly, Brendan, Brian, Kathleen, Devitt, Delia, Emmett and Aidan Hulseman; Kaitlin, Elizabeth, Greta and Joseph Kovach; Kathryn, Anna, Clare and Sheila Hulseman; Lawrence and Charles Hulseman; and Erin and Michaela Abrams. Also to Annie and Joey Kloos; Katie, Erin and Ryan (deceased) Kloos; Jeffrey and Robert James Fichner and Katelyn Tabb (Fichner); Alan, Greg, Nicholas and Emily Danner; William, McKenna, Kelly and Reed Harris; and Danielle, Laura Grace (deceased) and Jack Dozer. Her loving touch spread far and wide. Jean lived by building community wherever she went with her relentlessly welcoming persona. She was a humble and gracious agent of kindness. While mostly seen in the background, doing work no one else thought necessary, she showed us that simple details executed with care are the key to homemade hospitality. She saw what others did not. Tall, with effortlessly perfect posture, Jean possessed an unassumedly and contagiously calm bearing. She moved through life thoughtfully well, her attention to detail in all things rescuing the carelessness about her without trying. Jean had a dry and active sense of humor and sly proclivity for mischief. She often used this talent to needle her husband, children and fortunate friends to remind us to remain our better selves. No more so than herself. Co-founder with her husband and others of Beacon Street Performing Arts in Ministry and creator of Helping Hands, which allowed teachers at Ruffing Montessori School to direct all their attention to the children. Jean understood the importance of selfless work and sought to render her good deeds invisible. Post graduate volunteer with the Jesuit Volunteer Corps and occasional volunteer at the Cleveland Food Bank, she knew that sharing food with others was a necessity. The skill of her baking hand has reached countless mouths, all begging for more. Jean was a world class needlepointer like her mother, a loyal friend and neighbor to those who needed love most, a generous supporter of countless local anti poverty organizations and humanitarian communities, steadfast keeper of her backyard flowers, devoted worshipper at the Community of St. Peters, and had a smile that filled the hearts of anyone who saw. Most importantly, she was an exceptional mother, in every sense of the word. Jean wanted nothing more than to allow all to feel comfortable and included. Along with her co-conspirator Bob, her unquestioned legacy is the transmission of these essential elements of self into the consciousness of her children and all those who really knew her. We will always share this indelible Hulseman-Kloos presence with the generosity that was hers; because with her guidance, this is who they (and we) are. With her death, the earth shuddered, but still spins. We stand in the fullness of our own pain, in knowing recognition of how much she will be missed, and yet how fully she is in us and with us. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Cleveland Food Bank, 15500 S. Waterloo Rd., Cleveland, OH 44110 or Misericordia, 6300 N. Ridge Ave., Chicago, IL 60660. Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Gesu Parish, 2470 Miramar Blvd., University Heights, OH 44118. Parking available in both the Gesu parking lot and the O'Malley Center at John Carroll University across the street. The family will receive friends at the SCHULTE & MAHON-MURPHY FUNERAL HOME, 5252 MAYFIELD RD., LYNDHURST (BETWEEN RICHMOND AND BRAINARD), FRIDAY 3-5 AND 6-8 P.M.
