We rescued Skynyrd from the street in 2013. He was a hunting dog that had been abandoned. He had been freeze branded with "SK". He was malnourished and had been hit by a car, leaving him with a severe foot injury. When we first took him in, we kept him in a separate enclosure until we could introduce him to our other dogs. At night, while in the enclosure, he would "sing". Using his freeze branded initials, we named him "Skynyrd" after the band "Lynyrd Skynyrd". Skynyrd passed away after a short illness. At the time of his passing, he was thought to be approximately 12 to 13 years old.
