Joseph was a retired steam fitter/ pipe fitter. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Joseph was a former member of Holy Cross Catholic Church. He lettered in football, basketball, and golf in high school, and was a lifelong avid golfer. Joseph was also a life member of The Elyria United Polish Club.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Nancy (nee Weisman); a son, Gregory M. Janowicz of Columbus; three grandchildren, Aimee, Michael (Megan), and Alison Janowicz; three great grandchildren, Thomas, James, and Maggie Janowicz; a sister, Ida Vavzincak of Elyria; and a brother, Henry Janowicz of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jill Anne Janowicz; his parents, Felix and Veronica (nee Mujwit) Janowicz; a sister, Mary Urig; and five brothers, John, Ed, Frank, Ben and Vic Janowicz.
All services were private. Burial was at St. Mary Cemetery in Elyria.
