Frank worked as a clerk at the Elyria Post Office for many years, retiring in 1980. Following his retirement he worked for the Lorain County Human Services, retiring in 1989. He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church in Elyria, was a W.W. II Navy veteran, a former officer of the Elyria United Polish Club, and a life member of V.F.W. Post 1079 in Elyria.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Eunice (nee Malanowski); daughter, Linda (Dave) Kanteles of Elyria; sons, Lawrence Janowicz of Elyria, Rev. Richard Janowicz of Springfield, Oregon., Kevin (Christine) Janowicz of Indianapolis, Indiana and David (Patty) Janowicz of Elyria; nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sister, Ida Vavzincak of Elyria; brothers, Joe and Henry Janowicz both of Elyria.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Janowicz; sister, Mary Urig; and brothers, Ed, John, Vic, and Ben “Smoke” Janowicz.
The family will receive friends Friday, June 3, 2011 from 4 to 7 P.M. at the Laubenthal-Mercado Funeral Home, 38475 Chestnut Ridge Rd. (at State Rt. 57), Elyria. 322-4626. Closing prayers will be Saturday, June 4 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home followed by a 10 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria. The Rev. Frank P. Kosem, pastor, will be the Celebrant. Burial will be at St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria, where members of V.F.W. Post 1079 will conduct full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Nativity of the Mother of God Catholic Church, 704 Aspen St. Springfield, OR. 97477.
