Robert "Bob" Estep, age 75, of Burnsville, passed away on Tuesday, April 25th, 2017 at this home. A native of Yancey County, he was a son of the late Carl and Harriet Ledford Estep. He was also preceded in death by his sisters: Lillie Frost and Christine Swann. Bob was a U.S. Marine Veteran, having served in the Vietnam Era. He was a carpenter for 47 years and enjoyed camping, mud trucks and cooking but most of all spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memories is wife, Benita Ball Estep; son, Dwight Estep and wife, Amy, of Murphy; daughters: Lorenda Dockery and husband, Gerald, of Murphy; Shana McCurry and husband, Jamie, of Burnsville and Cassie McCurry and husband, Morris, also of Burnsville; siblings: Charles Estep, Ann Rice, June Hunter, Kate Wilson and Patricia Fern Haney; six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 29th in the Chapel of Yancey Funeral Services. Rev. Kenneth Parker and Rev. Steve Robinson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the funeral service at the funeral home. Private burial will follow.
