Esker Leon Davis, Jr., age 81, of China Grove, AL died Thursday, March 30, 2017.

Funeral services for Mr. Davis will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 at 3:00pm at Murphy's Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Wiley McWhorter and Pastor Willie T. Blackmon of New Life Christian Church officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Dillard Funeral Home in Troy directing.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2017 from 2:00pm-3:00pm at the church.

Pallbearers will be Audie Davis Jr., Levi and Tyler Davis, Will Hubbard, Walter Murphy and Brock Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Paul Davis, Wayne Davis, Don Davis, Bert Davis, Grey Davis, Grady Trussell, J.T. Harvis "Chicken", and Bob Lewis.

Mr. Davis was a farmer, having planted cotton, corn, peanuts, hay and also raised cattle.

He always shared his bountiful harvest with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Winnie Murphy Davis; daughter, Barbara Sessions (David); sons, Audie Davis and Chuck Davis (Susan); grandchildren, Aimee Trussell (Cody), Audie, Levi, Ashley, Lorianna, Tyler and Grey Davis; great grandson, Grady Trussell; great granddaughter, Caleigh Trussell; brothers, Jack Davis (Judy) and Roy Davis (Sandy); sisters, Sara Allen (Joe Bob), Judy Chancey and Alice Williford; sister-in-law, Willo Jean Davis and a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Esker L. Davis, Sr. and Sallie C. Davis; brother, Hubert Davis and nephew, Jeff Davis.

The family would like to thank his sitters, Vinnie Tolbert, Lisa Orum, Shequanna Shuddith and Christina Hubbard for their wonderful care.
