Phyllis was born to Oda Victor and Lavina Jones Rippee on March 13, 1941. She graduated from Greenwood High School in 1959 and Southwest Missouri State College in 1963. She taught briefly at Pleasant Hope High School before moving to Hartville, MO to care for her parents. She opened and ran Angus Ceramics in Hartville, MO for many years. Later she was a historian for Wright County Historical Society and preserved the family trees and cherished memories and tales of hundreds of extended families in that area that would have otherwise been lost. Phyllis also located and cataloged many small cemeteries throughout the county. She died on March 15, 2017 after an extended illness, her last months spent under the care of the special people at Jordan Creek Nursing and Rehab here in Springfield. She is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Eldon Rippee and Judith Rippee, three nephews and a niece and their spouses Edward Rippee and Nancy Eastman, Dr. Bruce and Valerie Rippee, Helen and Charles Rapp, and James and Dedra Rippee, and 9 greatnephews and greatnieces. She was a bright, funny, and kind member of our family. Her prayer service will be at Lohmeyer Funeral Home Monday, March 20, at 10 am and her ashes buried in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Hartville, Wright County, MO.
