AMARILLO — Hazel Bruhn Nichols, 89, of Amarillo died Saturday,May 14 at her home. She was born February 14,1922 at Logan NM.,to Elmor Bruhn and Myrtle Casey Bruhn. She married Billy S. Nichols on October 2, 1951 in Logan NM. He preceded her in death June 21, 1990.

Amarillo has been her home since 1955, she he was a homemaker as well as a rancher, and enjoyed coaching Kids INC softball and basketball when her children were young and played softball for many years herself. She loved all animals and enjoyed taking care of her cattle.

She is preceded in death by her husband, her parents; one sister Lavonne Paulk, two brothers, Fred Bruhn and Ernest Bruhn. Survivors are her four children, Kathy Burris and husband Tommy of Rogers,AR; Eddie Nichols and wife LouAnne of Houston; Sharon Lindley and husband Ray of Amarillo; and Julia Newman and husband Alan of Hereford, TX; eight grandchildren, Jerome Burris, Jennifer and William Nichols, Bryan Landes, Trent and Lorissa Lindley, and Dawn and Christopher Strawhacker; and 1 great-grandchild, Taylor Todd; a sister Joyce Mitchell and a brother August Bruhn both of Logan NM, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Graveside service is set for Wednesday, May 18, at Llano Cemetery with Don Hedden officiating. Visitation is set for Tuesday, May 17, 6-8 p.m. at LaGrone-Blackburn Shaw Martin Road Chapel.

In lieu of flowers she wanted memorials made to the Assembly of God Church, Logan NM 88426; or The Amarillo Humane Society 3501 S. Osage, Amarillo Tx 79109.
