Joseph A. Manda II, 82, of the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, died on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2008, at the Lyons Veterans Administration Medical Center in Bernards Township.

Born in Orange, he resided in Basking Ridge for many years.

Mr. Manda served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II.

He was a commercial grower of orchids and taught horticulture at Bergen County Vocational Technical School.

He was the widower of Caroline Barnes Manda, who died on Nov. 4, 1997.

He is survived by his son, Dr. Joseph A. Manda III, of Basking Ridge.

It was his wish that he be interred next to his wife in a private ceremony attended by a few close friends. This was done on Monday, Nov. 10.

Arrangements were by the Gallaway and Crane Funeral Home in Basking Ridge.
