Mars Hill - Leroy Revis, 71, of 1076 Holland Creek Road, died Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2006, at his residence after a year-long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family.
He was a native of Madison County and a son of the late Samuel Carl and Alice Juanita Jamerson Revis. Mr. Revis was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the 82nd and 101st Airborn Division and was employed as a rural mail carrier with the U.S. Post Office for the last 35 years. He was also a member of Bald Creek Masonic Lodge #397 AF&AM, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Miller Revis of the home, two sons, Jeff Revis and wife, Tina, and Jimmy Revis and fiancee, Charmin Wyatt, all of Mars Hill; sister, Helen Revis Coyle and husband, Daryl, of Weaverville; three brothers, Homer Revis and wife, Margaret, Donald Revis and wife, Brenda, all of Weaverville, and Randy Rice and fiancee, Mary Stinson of Abbington, Va.; grandchildren, Lee Revis and Mallory Revis Brockwell; great-grandson, Tanner Chase Brockwell; and lifelong friend, Homer Robinson.
The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Baptist Church. The Revs. Vince Whitt and Troy Rogers will officiate.
Burial will follow in Chandler Cemetery. Bald Creek Masonic Lodge will conduct graveside rites. The lodge will open at 12:30 p.m.
