Buddy Blevins, 69, of Calhoun died Thursday, Aug. 2, 2001, in a local hospital.

He was a member of Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.

He retired from the engineering department for the state of Tennessee.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Holt Gibson and Vergie Blevins; brother, Henry Gibson; aunt, Dennis Blevins and Dicia Blevins; uncle, Pete Blevins; mother-in-law and father-in-law, J.C. and Bessie Rockholt Petitt.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Petitt Blevins of Calhoun; brother, J.B. Gibson of Decatur; sister, Juanita Sewell of Cleveland; aunt, Iva Joe Howard of Riceville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Louise and Arnold Clevenger of Cleveland; sister-in-law, Geneva Petitt of Cleveland; several nieces and nephews; a host of friends; and special grandchildren: Justin Crittenden and Emily Crittenden.

The funeral will be held at 9 p.m. today in the chapel of Bowers Funeral Home in Decatur with the Revs. Barry Kidwell and Matt Trussell officiating. Pallbearers will be Richard McAllister, Carlos Crisp, David Crittenden, Jim Garland, Dean Erwin and Glenn Everett. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Blevins Cemetery on Lamontville Road in McMinn County.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Mount Olivet United Methodist Church.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 tonight at the funeral home.
