Mustered in as Private. Promoted to Sergeant prior to November 1, 1862. Reduced to ranks prior to January 1, 1863. Promoted to Corporal on February 1, 1863.
Wounded at Chancellorsville, Virginia, May 1-4, 1863. Returned to duty prior to July 3, 1863, when he was wounded in the leg and captured at Gettysburg, Pennsylvania.
Confined at Fort Delaware, Delaware, July 7, 1863.
Paroled at Fort Delaware on July 30, 1863, and transferred to City Point, Virginia, where he was received on August 1, 1863, for exchange.
Returned to duty in November-December, 1863.
Promoted to Sergeant in January-February, 1864.
Captured at or near Fort Stedman, Virginia, March 25, 1865.
