After high school, Roger attended Great Lakes Training and entered the United States Navy in 1956. He served his country during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1963, on account of poor health. After a brief stay with his parents he moved to the St. Cloud Veterans Home. When he needed further assistance with his daily care he became a resident of the Minneapolis Veterans hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
He passed away there on Thursday, January 18, 2007. He is survived by his aunt, Violet Abraham of Glenwood; cousin, DeWayne Peper of Glenwood; and several cousins.
Roger is preceded in death by his parents, Douglas and Esther McCann.
