Rosetta Whitely, age 83 of Beckley, WV passed away at the Madison Park Assisted Living Center in Huntington on Monday December 28, 2015 as a result of Alzheimer's Disease.
Born on December 15, 1932 in Killarney, she was the daughter of the late Robert Edwards and Mabel Harmon Edwards.
Mrs. Whitely was a retired employee for the Raleigh County Board of Education, having last taught fourth grade at Beaver Elementary School. She received her B.S. Degree in Education from Morris Harvey College.
Mrs. Whitely was a member of the Beckley Regular Baptist Church, and her interests included walking, reading, and working with roses in her flower garden.
Mrs. Whitely was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Whitely, by two sisters, Barbara Tedder and Betty Lucado.
Those survivors left to cherish her memory include her children; Mark Whitely and his wife Sherry of Beckley, Jeff Whitely and his wife Janet, of Beckley, and Elaine Noble and her husband David of Huntington; seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Other survivors include a sister, Norma Linsky and her husband Jack of MacArthur; two brothers, Donzie Edwards and his wife Twila of South Carolina, and Lloyd Edwards of Kentucky, along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley on Saturday January 2, 2016 at 1 PM with Reverend Kevin Gullion officiating.
Burial will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens at Prosperity, WV.
Friends may visit with the family from 11AM until 1 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
