On Monday, July 4, 2016 Heavenly Father welcomed home one of his choice daughters, Peggy Lee Roland. Peggy was born in Macon, Georgia, on February 13, 1938 to loving parents, Mary Belle and Henry Pratt Roland. She joined sisters Mary Evelene, Viola Idell, Martha Faye and Patricia Diane, with brothers Brodus King, Chessie Sherman and Henry Pratt Roland, Jr. Peggy loved and cared for each family member and loved them tenderly.

Peggy loved to learn. She was a student at Bellevue Elementary and Miller High School in Macon, Georgia. She then moved to Provo, Utah and continued her education at Brigham Young University, where she earned her Bachelor’s degree, Master’s Degree and Ed. D. Peggy was the happiest when she was learning and sharing her knowledge with others.

When she graduated from Brigham Young University in 1960, Peggy became a physical education teacher at Central Jr. High School in Provo. She later taught at Dixon Jr. High School and eventually became the Vice Principal for many years until her retirement in 1998.

Peggy earned many awards and accolades during her professional life, including Assistant Principal of the Year for Utah Secondary Schools in 1989. The Roland Award was named after Peggy, and is the highest award given by the Utah Middle Level Association. The award is presented each year to an individual who has demonstrated a level of service, integrity, and leadership in middle level education.

Peggy had many nieces and nephews whom she loved. She was known to take them camping, fishing and to athletic events. She was a kind and generous aunt that was loved dearly.

Peggy was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved her Heavenly Father so very much and served Him faithfully all of her life. She especially loved her calling as a temple worker in the LDS Mount Timpanogos temple.

Her family, friends and all who knew her will miss Peggy. She was a positive influence in the lives of everyone who had the privilege of knowing her. She went out of her way to help others.
