Eliza and her husband Thomas where from Ireland. They must have arrived sometime before 1854 or 1856 ( date unclear), which is the date their son Robert was born in Illinois.
They also must have returned to Ireland where their second child, Thomas, is born in Ireland in 1858 or 1860. ( Its not clear which date). Son William was born in Minnesota in 1863, but their last child, Martha, was born in New York 1878. Perhaps they traveled back to Ireland again and Martha was born as they arrived in New York?? Were they returning to Ireland to escape Lincoln's draft of the Civil War??? Irish immigrants didn't have an easy time.
The family settled in Wabasa County, Minnesota and are seen there in the 1860 census and again in the 1880 census. In June 1895, Eliza appears in the Minnesota Territorial census. She is living with son Thomas and his wife. Thomas' son, Dwight LLoyd Wood, is one years old. Eliza's memorial service was held in Cass Lake, then she is buried the Lakewood Cemetery in Lake City, Wabasha Co. MN.
Perhaps Eliza was living with one of her children or grandchildren's families at the time of her passing?. She had a large burial ceremony , loved and respected by many.
