Charles Jefferson Evans, long time Rome area minister, age 92, of Hwy 411, Rome, went to his eternal home on May 24, 2016.

Rev. Evans was born in Forest Park on December 24, 1923, the son of the late Lonnie Jefferson Evans and Hattie Creel Evans. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Adele Evans, and two daughters, Robin Abrams and Wanda McSpadden.

Rev. Evans served the Lord for over 74 years of his life, having begun preaching at age 17. Over these years, he has touched so many lives with the Lord’s love. “Finally he’ll be in Heaven with his Saviour and his other loved ones,” his daughter said. “You will be so missed Dad – I love you.”

Survivors include his daughter, Angela C. Evans; grandchildren, Ronnie Lon Sparks, Heather A. Sparks, Elizabeth Winter, Jeff Vines, Kevin McSpadden and Jason McSpadden and their families; brother-in-law, Danny Abrams and sister-in-law, Barbara Abrams; and a number of great grandchildren including Tiana, Alonna, LaNiesha and Nehemiah.

A funeral service will be held Friday, May 27, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Daniel’s Funeral Home with Dr. Lamar Barden and the Revs. Howard Germany and Bob Skelton officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until the funeral hour.

Entombment will be in the Matthew Mausoleum at Oaknoll Memorial Gardens.
