John was always known as JOCK in the family. He was a solicitor like his Father. He served in the RAF in WWII as Pilot in Bomber Command. He was awarded the DFC for herculean efforts in getting his Wellington and Crew back from a sortie in which his steering equipment had been damaged so badly that he and his co-pilot had hold the rudder bar hard over all the way back from Germany. He died and was cremated in Poole, Dorset, England. His ashes are interred in the family lair in Dunfermline.
