Margaret (Heaton) Whaley Smith, age 87, of New Castle passed away Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at her residence. She was a member of the New Castle Christian Church and she loved traveling with her family and playing cards with the girls. She was the daughter of the late William Douglas and Edith Gail Heaton. Margaret was preceded in death by her husbands, Joe Hoyt Whaley and Joe Smith Jr., and a son, Joseph Daniel Whaley.
She is survived by one daughter, Barbara Gail Stout (Jack) of Louisville; one son, Tony Whaley (Carla) of New Castle; and three granddaughters, [names removed].
Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 28, 2016, at Prewitt New Castle Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Michael Duncan, pastor of Eminence Baptist Church.
Interment was in Pleasureville Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were The Card Girls.
Pallbearers were Russ Rose, Darrell Dees, Mount Hadden, Jack Stout, Shane Roberts and Bob Wyman.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Henry County Humane Society.
