Reverend Simon Dakin came to NY state with his father. He was ordained elder of the Church of Christ of Phillips Patent in 1751. In 1753 he was ordained Pastor and moved with the church to Northeast, Dutchess County, NY, where he bought considerable land. He remained Pastor of the church until his death after a pastorate of 50 years and is buried in the cemetery at Spencer's Corners in the town of Northeast.
