Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2016 at the Richard Boles Funeral Service Chapel in Laurinburg officiated by the Rev. Andy Stewart and the Rev. Lloyd "June" Grant Jr. Burial will follow the service in the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery, Wallace, South Carolina.
Eugene was born Sept. 11, 1930 in Marlboro County, South Carolina, son of the late Ethel English and John Robson. He was a proud United States Army veteran and retired from JP Stevens after many years of service. He faithfully served the Lord and was the pastor at Prevatte Chapel for more than 25 years. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, and enjoyed making his country sausage.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Annie Cumber English.
Eugene is survived by his children, sons, James Eugene English (Debbie) of Wallace, S.C., Ronald "Ronnie" Legrand English (Dale) of Bennettsville, S.C., Jerry Wayne English (Stephanie Pinion) of Hamlet; his daughters, Debra Paul of Hamlet and Phyllis Barton (Bob) of Hamlet; a brother, James "Zip" Lindsey English (Christine) of Bennettsville, S.C.; sister, Geraldine "Bit" Steen (Harold) of Bennettsville, S.C.; nine grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a host of family and friends.
