German Nobility, Austrian General. Born Ferdinand Georg August von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld, second son of Franz von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld and his wife Auguste Reuß zu Ebersdorf. He founded the House Sachsen-Coburg-Gotha-Koháry. In 1827 he converted to Catholicism to marry the Hungarian princess Maria Antonia von Koháry.
