SS-Panzer-Grenadier-Division “Götz von Berlichingen”, and “Das Reich” as divisional commander. His awards were the Iron Cross (1939) 1st & 2nd Class, SS-Honour Ring, Sudetenland Medal,
German Cross in Gold, Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, Pilot's Badge, General Assault Badge, and Black Wound Badge.
