Sam was the first Anderson brother to come to America in the Spring of 1866. He was married in Rush River to Randvei Thompson on September 21, 1866. They lived Eau Claire for one year and then moved to the town of Eau Galle where they built a log cabin. He resided on the farm until his death. They were the parents of four children, Albert, Anne, Nicoli, and John.
