Sharp Funeral Home

Martina “Tina” Irlbeck Van Dyke, 92 of Carroll, and formerly of Dedham and Nebraska, died Wednesday, March 26, 2014 at the Carroll Health Center Nursing Home.

Mass of the Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29, 2014 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Dedham. The Celebrant will be Fr. Andrew Hoffmann, assisted by Deacon Louis Meiners. Music for the funeral mass will be by Cindy Bauer and the St. Joseph’s Choir. Lector will be Jeff Irlbeck. Gift Bearers will be Anne Heithoff and Nadine Lengeling. Eucharistic Ministers will be Jackie Reineke and Jan Eich. Casket Bearers will be: Jeff Irlbeck, Tim Irlbeck, Mike Dermody, Chris Irlbeck, Jessica Dermody and Allyson Irlbeck. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Dedham.

Friends may call at the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll after 3:30 p.m. on Friday where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian Wake Service at 6 p.m.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Sharp Funeral Home in Carroll.

Born on January 18, 1922 at rural Dedham, Iowa, Martina was the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Brauchman) Tigges. She attended St. Joseph’s School in Dedham and was later united in marriage to Adalbert “Tubby” Irlbeck at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church on April 22, 1941. The couple, referred to as Tubby and Tina, lived on a farm south of Dedham until Tubby’s passing in November of 1970.

On February 12, 1972, Tina married Norbert Van Dyke at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Norbert and Tina lived in Nebraska for several years before returning to Carroll and also lived in the Glidden area. In 2002, the couple celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. Norbert passed away in 2004.

Tina enjoyed painting nature scenes, playing the harmonica, dancing, singing, bowling, many kinds of crafts and spending time with her family.

Survivors include her children: Lora Irlbeck (Nugent) Jackson of Lacy, WA, Jean Irlbeck of Lacy, WA, and Ric (Julie) Irlbeck of Suffolk, VA; her step-children: Kathy (Jeff) Wagner of NE, Deb (Mike) Clausen of NE, Steve Van Dyke of CA, Gerry (Karol) Van Dyke of NE, Judy Stewart of NE, Don (Mari) Van Dyke of SC, Jeanne (Bob) Kapels of NE, Bob Van Dyke of TX, Bill (Jean) Van Dyke of NE, and Janet (Mel) Arnott of NV; her devoted grandchildren: Tim (Jen) Irlbeck, Mike Dermody, Sarah (Jared) Williams, Chris (Jen) Irlbeck, and Jeff Irlbeck; 23 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; her siblings: Alma Klocke of Templeton, Ed Tigges of Carroll, Joe (Freda) Tigges of Dedham, and Don (Marlene) Tigges of Carroll; as well as other extended relatives.

Tina was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Tubby and Norbert; her daughter Connie; her brothers: Arthur, Leonard and Allie Tigges; and a sister in infancy.
