Lucinda (Queener) Mayer, 90, of Elkhart passed away at 5:45 am on Sunday, September 20 after a brief illness.

Cindy was born April 14, 1925, in Harlan, Ky., to the late Jordan G. and Mary (Braden) Queener.

After moving from Kentucky to Elkhart, Cindy worked for Ziesels’s Department Store and CTS Corporation prior to marrying Lyle Mayer on July 1, 1951.

He survives along with their three children; Kathy (George) Strukel of Oldsmar, Florida, Stephen Mayer of St. Petersburg, Florida and Pam Homan of Mishawaka. Also surviving are two grandsons; Jeremy (Jennifer) Burk, Matthew (Kenlyn Berkey) Homan and three great-grandchildren.

Preceding Cindy in death were her 11 siblings Jesse, Irene Hurstle, Thelma, Arnold, Robert, Edith, Ulysess, Florence and Don.

Cindy loved to crochet and over the years many family and friends were the recipients of her afghans. She was an active member of Adamsville Road Church of God in Elkhart.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015 from 4-6 pm at Walley- Mills- Zimmerman Funeral Home in Elkhart. There will also be one hour of visitation prior to the11:00 am funeral service at Walley-Mills-Zimmerman Funeral Home on Thursday, September 24, 2015. Pastor Gary Ausbun and Pastor Denny Olson of Adamsville Road Church of God will officiate. Interment will follow in Rice Cemetery, Elkhart.

In her memory, memorial contributions may be made to the Youth Group at Adamsville Road Church of God.
