Betty Evans King, 95, of 25 Secretariat Drive, Hendersonville, NC, died Sunday, August 9, 2015, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Ruth and Ken Mace.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 14, at 2:00 PM at the Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church, 405 Summit Avenue, Asheboro. Pastor Ed Burns, Rev. J.C. Miles, and Rev. Tommy Fuquay will conduct the funeral. Burial will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, August 13, at Pugh Funeral Home, 437 Sunset Ave., Asheboro. They will also receive friends and family at 1259 Thayer Drive, Asheboro, at other times.

Betty Evans King was born on July 14, 1920, to Cyrus and Vesta Evans. She attended Holmes Bible College and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from High Point University and a Master of Education Degree and a Sixth Year Degree in Counseling from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was an elementary teacher at Lindley Park Elementary School, a guidance counselor at North Asheboro Middle School, and a licensed minister. She and her husband Carlos pastored in the Pentecostal Holiness Church for over 65 years. Betty and Carlos organized and were charter members of Asheboro Pentecostal Holiness Church. They also started and pastored other Pentecostal Holiness Churches in North Carolina and Tennessee.

She is survived by daughter Priscilla Ruth King Mace and son-in-law Kenneth D. Mace of Hendersonville, NC; grandson Keven McKinley Spargo and his wife Debbie of Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carlos, in 2010.
