David Henri Piller, age 77, of Henderson, KY, went home to be with the Lord at 4:25 PM, Wednesday, July 8, 2015, at Henderson Nursing and Rehab.

David was born in Corpus Christi, TX in 1937. His father owned and operated theaters, and both mother and father were musicians who operated a music studio in Brownsville where he grew up. He attended St. Joseph’s Boys Academy, graduated from Vanderbilt University with a degree in Spanish. David met the love of his life Jane, while at Vanderbilt and they married in 1959. He was very active in theatre and even went to New York to audition for theatre. After graduation, he started working for a credit union and as a result was able to work in Caracas, Venezuela, then went to work in Panama City, Panama, where they adopted their first son, David. They eventually moved back to the U.S. and he went to work at 3rd National Bank in Nashville, adopted second child Susanna and second son John was born. David worked at numerous different banks including; Harpeth National Bank in Franklin, TN, Ohio Valley Bank and Farmers Bank in Webster County, KY. David retired in 2005 from Elberfeld State Bank in Indiana as President, where he still remained active on the board of directors. He had a glider plane license for 40 years and got his private pilots license in 2005. He served on the Henderson Airport Board. David was a long time active member at First Baptist Church in Henderson; he sang in the choir and taught Sunday school. He was ordained as a Deacon twice. He loved to travel, fly and take cruises. He was a member of Pilots for Christ.

David was preceded in death by his parents, Henri Piller and Bertha Ivaldi, one daughter, Susanna Jane Piller.

Relatives and friends are invited to David’s Life Celebration from 2:00 – 8:00 PM on Friday at Benton-Glunt Funeral Home, and from 11:00 AM until service time on Saturday at First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday at the church with Reverend Todd Linn, PhD, officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Henderson.
